Recycled Shadows

Recycled Shadows is a street art installation by Meva. Inspired by the fact that most of the 938,000 free newspapers distributed daily in Madrid end up in the trash - the artists used several hundreds of the discarded papers to create windmills that they hung over a street in Alicante, Spain as well as in the courtyard of the Ministry of Environment in Madrid. Beautiful art with a powerful message. Well done!

The weather is supposed to be beautiful this weekend - and I can't wait!

Tonight I'm meeting up for dinner and drinks with some lovely ladies. Tomorrow I'll hop around town and take some photographs for a new project I'm working on. Then Sunday is all about soaking up the sun via an afternoon trip to the park with Mike, which we actually never got to do over the summer. Gotta love second chances!

Cloud Cities

Cloud Cities is an interactive art installation by Argentinian artist Tomas Saraceno. It consists of 20 clear orbs in varying sizes and hung at different heights. Each orb contains a different organic material such as water or plant life. But, the most unique aspect of the exhibit is that guests can interact with the orbs - either by lying on top of them or even climbing into some of them! If I happened to find myself in Berlin in January 2012 I would definitely check this out!

Crystal Clear

This picture is both beautiful and depressing - ha! I have been hankering for a vacation SO bad lately. I need a solid beach experience every few months, otherwise I get cranky and far too pale. So, Mike and I were thinking about planning a tropical getaway for February, any suggestions?? Pleeease :)

Book Lovers

Love the cute Flickr gallery, Heaven for Book People. I was always a huge reader as a kid - I'd read myself to sleep and then wake up with my finger still holding the page I'd left off with. Now that I'm older I tend to go through [very sad] phases where I stop reading as much, but then I pick up a new book it all comes back :)

I'm rejoicing that it's actually Friday considering I spent the better part of yesterday thinking today would be Saturday. Don't you hate when that happens?

It is my dear friend Erin's birthday! (Happy Birthday Err!) So, we'll be meandering around the city tonight and then meeting up for brunch tomorrow for all sorts of celebrating :)

I also have high hopes for more cooking, possibly baking (!?), and cozying up for an afternoon in Prospect Park.

A Man and His House

Shaved Asparagus Pizza

So this weekend I did something I haven't done in awhile... cook! I found this awesome recipe over on Smitten Kitchen (which I'm completely obsessed with) and I couldn't wait to try it out! Mike and I recently invested in a pizza stone and some other pizza-related accessories so it worked out perfectly! It was crispy and delicious and I highly recommend you try it!

Remnants

Each "remnant" in Greg Sand's series was created by weaving together 3 found photographs - each from a different point in the person's life - to form a portrait of someone who's passed away. The series is all about recollection and remembrance and each creation depicts a likeness of the individual rather than a literal image of the person at one time. That's deep.
