I'm thinking I've just figured out how to travel the world on a budget...

The Tentsile, a tent/hammock hybrid, is being called "the world's most versatile tent." Considering they can be used in nearly any environment, are fired retardent, and both UV and water resistant - sounds like these bad boys are just the ticket.

Mike and I are going to a small gathering at a friend's apartment in Soho. Then, tomorrow is reserved for a bit of shopping, possibly some bike riding and definitely one serious, serious nap!

Sunday will be spent with family - eating food and sharing some laughs. And I can't wait!

Lush City-Living

This incredible outdoor space [shockingly] belongs to a Chelsea apartment in NYC. For a cool $4.5 million you get over 1,600 square feet of well, this. Decks and balconies are not the least bit overrated and if you happened to have won the lottery recently, I suggest you look into this :)

Tonight I'm heading to queens for a going away party for some friends of ours that are moving to Portland (hehe). Then, tomorrow night we're having Mike's sister and brother-in-law over for some snacks and such. Fun, fun, fun!

Tales from the Weekend

This weekend was pretty darn chilly in New York. Luckily, I love lounging around the house and doing absolutely nothing. Though we did manage to accomplish a few great things amidst the laziness:

We [finally] threw out our Christmas tree... 

Yes, we literally threw it out of the window - which was masterfully planned by Mike as to avoid excessive needle cleanup :) so it was fun and effective. 

We lounged for a bit before tag-teaming some fresh baked apple pie cookies...

They were quite yummy, especially if you like pie crust (which we do). I managed to save a few so we'll be enjoying them again later this week. 

Yesterday, we hit up the grocery store for some fresh ingredients to make eggplant rollatini...

...AND oh-so-cheesy garlic bread. It was quite the feast and quite the weekend.

The weather is supposed to be beautiful this weekend - and I can't wait!

Tonight I'm meeting up for dinner and drinks with some lovely ladies. Tomorrow I'll hop around town and take some photographs for a new project I'm working on. Then Sunday is all about soaking up the sun via an afternoon trip to the park with Mike, which we actually never got to do over the summer. Gotta love second chances!

In other news... hurricane Irene is on her way up the coast and I know this because I've been listening to the weather channel for the past 2 hours. But, I really think the whole thing is just going to blow over. hehe.

I may or may not be stuck indoors, depending on how bad this storm really gets. But not to worry... we've got food, flashlights, and an excess of red wine. So, I think I'm good.

Tales from the Weekend: Vermont

Our trip to Vermont was easily one of our best vacations to date. We packed more activities into 3 days than any of us thought was possible. We did it all...

Visited the Magic Hat Brewery for some free samples.

Took the boat out on Lake Champlain for a some afternoon tubing.

Found a little island and set up camp.

Got our fire blazing and made some s'mores.

Rode "4-up" on the Rhino.

Played with the neighbors cows, both large and small.

We also managed to squeeze in a 90 mile motorcyle ride to check out some waterfalls, and the boys tore up the fields on dirt bikes. You know, just your average weekend stuff. Needless to say we had a blast, and couldn't have asked for better company. Come to think of it, I can't remember a moment in the weekend when we weren't all laughing and carrying on. Luckily, we'll be back in a few weeks to watch our pals tie the knot - and I already cannot wait!
