The Return
This past week was spent in sunny Puerto Plata, DR with my good friend Chrissy. We both needed some serious relaxation and Vitamin D - and I'm happy to report we got both. Now... it's back to business in NY but wanted to share a quick shot from my trip.
Enjoy! xoxo

Let's Travel Somewhere
I often have a plaguing feeling that I will never get to travel and see as much of the world as I'd like in my lifetime. So, any project that helps support others to get out and go is cool in my book. Designer Ines Gamler created this set of posters to promote the collaborative photo project - Let's Travel Somewhere.

Ben [almost] goes to New Jersey
This weekend we were supposed to go down to Long Beach Island, NJ for Chowderfest and my friend Erin's birthday. The bad news is that we missed the bus so we didn't end up going. The good news is that Mike snapped this sweet shot of little Benny in laid-back travel mode. I love it!

Tails from the Weekend
Meet Ben!
Mike and I rode up to Massachusetts on Friday to pick up this little dude. He's a jack russel-chihuahua mix and he's as awesome as he is adorable. It's been a hectic weekend getting him settled in but we're very, very happy to have him :)
Oh, and I'm in love.

Bubble House
Ummm, say what!? This bubble shaped house, Palais Bulles, apparently puts on parties like no other - and I believe it! Could you imagine attending or even throwing a shindig here? The view is stellar, and my god - the pool!
Check out some more photos and backstory here.

World's Largest Swimming Pool
This pool at the San Alfonso del Mar resort in Algarrobo, Chile is HUGE! Coming in at just under 20 acres and holding 66 million gallons of water (wow!) the Guinness Book of World Records declared it the world's largest swimming pool in December 2006. I'd love to be a guest - would hate to be the pool cleaner...

Apartment Goodness
This gorgeous apartment lives in a 100 year old building in central Stockholm, Sweden. See a few more pics here.
Also, now that I live in an apartment with exposed brick I'm pretty sure that's a mandatory for all properties moving forward... too good.

Tales from Vacation: Scuba Diving
While in the Bahamas, Mike and I finally got to do something we've been talking about for awhile: scuba diving. For his birthday I set up a surprise trip where we learned the basics then went out on a 40ft. dive with a small group and one instructor, Rafael. We had such a good time that we immediately called the next day to book a 60ft. dive with Rafael - and about 25 sharks! You'll also see in the video that we swam through a shipwreck, which was freaking awesome.
It ended up being one of the most amazing, surreal experiences I've ever had. It was also pretty humbling, as we both learned there is literally no way to look cool in a scuba suit - NO way. Here are some shots we ordered from the dive shop, and a video Mike shot with his GoPro camera. Enjoy! xo
I feel compelled to note that if I look like I'm dying in those pictures it's only because my mask was on way too tight and (while I was completely safe and breathing perfectly normal) felt like I was going to pass out and float to the surface - creating the possibility of being eaten by sharks. Luckily... I lived to see the giant mask imprint that plagued my face for the remainder of the day :)
I'll follow up tomorrow with some of Mike's amazing vacation photography!

Owls!
These sweet little owl illustrations by Ashley Percival are available for purchase here. The colors are so fun and cheery they remind me of the Bahamas, which I just got back from!
We had a really nice time and the highlight was definitely our first adventures in scuba diving! I'm excited to share some pictures and underwater videos(!) over the next couple of days - so look out!

And we're off...
Tomorrow morning Mike & I are leaving for one lovely fun-filled week in the Bahamas. It's been well over a year since our last vacation and we're beyond excited for the getaway. With that, I hope you all have an awesome week and I'll be back on the 7th - hopefully tan.
Adios!

What I meant was...
Since my visit to Costa Rica I always "joke"with Mike about moving there one day and living in a hut somewhere by the beach. So when I said hut, this is what I was really thinking. This bad boy has 6,500 sq. feet and enough indoor/outdoor space to keep me happy all year round :)
What do you think? Would you ever pick up and move to a tropical paradise - even if it was a little hut on the beach!?

Now & Later
Good Friday to ya!
Now:
I'm thinking I've just figured out how to travel the world on a budget...
The Tentsile, a tent/hammock hybrid, is being called "the world's most versatile tent." Considering they can be used in nearly any environment, are fired retardent, and both UV and water resistant - sounds like these bad boys are just the ticket.
(Thanks to Mike for sharing!)
Later:
Mike and I are going to a small gathering at a friend's apartment in Soho. Then, tomorrow is reserved for a bit of shopping, possibly some bike riding and definitely one serious, serious nap!
Sunday will be spent with family - eating food and sharing some laughs. And I can't wait!
Hope you all enjoy your weekend!
