Diminish and ascend

Shoot this sculptural installation by artist David McCracken at the right angle and it looks like a never-ending staircase into the abyss. Dreamy.

Reflecting

Artist Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen created reflective mannequins for her exhibition Mobile Mirrors  to make a statement about consumerism - allowing us to shift focus to ourselves and reflect on our consumption habits. But, in looking at it, I'm not sure if I want to reflect... or dance. Pretty sure it's dance. Either way - beautiful work!

A Life Like This

Absolutely loving these sculptures by artist Ron Mueck - where he perfects each piece so that it's completely believable and lifelike while playing with scale.

See more of the work here.

Pont de Singe

This dreamy work by French artist Olivier Grossetête was designed for "contemplation rather than function" as it starts and ends in the water. While I wish it was walk-able it's still pretty awesome as is.

Burning Man

Burning Man is a week-long annual event that takes place in Nevada's Black Rock Desert. Described as "an annual experiment in temporary community dedicated to radical self-expression and radical self-reliance," it attracts tens of thousands of visitors each year.

These amazing photographs by photographer Peikwen Cheng definitely paint a picture - albeit a surreal and dusty one - of something truly special and unique. Read more about Cheng's experience shooting the event here.

I would LOVE to see this.

A Whale in Argentina

This incredible piece by Argentinean sculptor Adrián Villar, titled My Family Dead (2009), is a life-size blue whale in the woods outside Ushuaia, Argentina. Could you imagine stumbling upon this during a hike or something? Insane!
